Conviviale stands apart in Highbury with a distinct Québécois twist—a menu that features house-made poutine crafted with freshly cooked chips, homemade gravy, and carefully selected cheese. Owner Cat Barry, originally from Montreal, brings her personal wine collection to the bar’s list, curating bottles from classic European producers as well as finds from North America, South Africa and beyond.
Classic wine bar fare is on hand, notably cheese and charcuterie boards, elevated by staff with cheesemonger experience. Conviviale occasionally supplements the menu with larger plates like pork chop with mustard, maple syrup and fennel, and steamed mussels in a Thai-style broth. The space itself is newly brightened, anchored by a rebuilt bar counter—a fresh chapter for the former Vins site. The focus here is on sharing both Cat’s cellar and a slice of Montreal’s nightlife spirit, right next to Canonbury station.
