Things to do in Barcelona this weekend, 28–30 August 2026

This is the closing weekend of the Festa Major de Sants. Since 22 August, the neighbourhood’s streets have been transformed by handmade decorations fashioned from recycled materials; they remain in place through Sunday, accompanied after dark by free outdoor concerts, dance orchestras and DJ sets. On Friday 28 August, Plaça de la Farga hosts Etèria at 20:00, followed by DJs from 22:00. Carrer del Guadiana has Engels at 20:00, Vatua at 21:45 and Enemigo Público at 23:30. Saturday 29 August brings the final major night: Sabor Sabor Orchestra on Alcolea de Baix at 23:00, Joan Colomo and Radiofórmula on Carrer de Sagunt at 23:00, and Rumba Night on Vallespir de Baix at 22:00. Arrive via Sants Estació; admission is free. Friday’s alternative is the Tom Barford Quintet at Jamboree on Plaça Reial—two sold-out sets at 19:00 and 20:30, priced at €20. Without a ticket, Sants is the obvious answer. Before the jazz, Finorri, a Catalan grill facing La Boqueria, is a short walk from Plaça Reial.

Friday also offers a quieter interlude. The Magic Hour at the Monestir de Pedralbes opens the Gothic cloister and gardens from 18:00 to 21:00, free of charge and without reservation.

Later, the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc runs from 21:30 to 22:30 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday—the city’s free nocturnal spectacle between Plaça d’Espanya and the hill.

Saturday offers two indoor alternatives to the street festivities. Saturday Classics begins at 18:00 at MEAM, inside Palau Gomis in El Born; the ticket includes admission to the galleries, the concert and a glass of cava. In the same neighbourhood, Barcelona: city and theatre enters its final days at El Born CCM, Plaça Comercial 12. The exhibition is free and open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00, until 30 August. Nearby, Bornès on Carrer de la Carassa serves Catalan plates, wine and cocktails from 13:00 at weekends. For a night outdoors on Montjuïc, Fritanga! at Poble Espanyol is the rumba edition of Nits en Viu, with Piratas Rumbversions and DJ Txarnego. Tickets start at around €12 and include daytime admission to the Poble.

Sunday divides neatly between open air and concert hall. Brunch Electronik takes over the Jardins de Joan Brossa on Montjuïc from 13:00 to 22:00; tickets must be bought online, with none available at the entrance. At 20:30, Estevan and Alejandro Gutiérrez perform at the Gran Teatre del Liceu: instrumental and wordless, with production by Dan Auerbach. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster. The Liceu stands on La Rambla; for dinner beforehand, Arraval in the Raval serves Catalan market cooking. After the concert, the fountain continues until 22:30.

Choose by geography. Sants owns the free weekend; the Liceu, Sunday night; Pedralbes, the hour when the day’s heat begins to soften. The restaurants Localtime added this week—including Piropo Bistro, Trü and Bornès—appear in Ten new Barcelona restaurants, from Gràcia to the Raval.
