Tempo opened in January 2026 at 252 Paradise Row, E2 9LE, under the arches beside Bethnal Green station. Chef Eric Wan — Dinner by Heston, then the Vietnamese supper club Lá Lốt — cooks new-wave Asian from Chinese and Vietnamese roots: shrimp toast with green chilli, silken egg with brown crab and XO, Delica squash curry, beef onglet with chilli relish, madeleines with hot honey butter. Founder Dan Long, of Dan’s in Dalston, built the wine list; front of house came from Dorian and Noble Rot. Hot Dinners test-drove it on 27 January and said the opening set the bar for 2026. @millykr put the Bethnal Green arch on her ten-place summer radar for modern South-East Asian cookery and great wine.

The little-known fact is the pass. This is Wan’s first permanent kitchen after years of pop-ups, an open counter in a railway arch rather than a white tablecloth, which is why the prawn toast is the dish people cross town for. Tuesday to Sunday. Book through tempo.restaurant.

@tempo___restaurant is the live camera. The toast is why you go; Paradise Row is why it feels like London.
