Vin d'Alsace

Vin d'Alsace opened at the turn of September 2026 at Plateia Varnava 8, 116 35 Pangrati — 13 square metres that Athinorama called the smallest wine bar on the planet, signed by Kostis Karatzias. Five people fit inside; ten more take the outer tables on the square. The list is only Alsace, written by variety rather than by famous label: Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Sylvaner, bottles from small producers that change often enough that the chalkboard is the menu. Prices by glass and bottle are meant to sit among the best in Athens, not among the trophy lists. Snacks are pickles and preserves, food that belongs next to a stem rather than a dinner plate. There is no reservation engine; the square is the queue, and a Thursday 17:00 opening on Maps is the clock until a handle exists.

The little-known fact is the stork. Karatzias kept a gallery’s bones in the room and put the bird of Alsace on the glass, a joke Athinorama printed as wines delivered by stork. There is no kitchen Instagram yet; the live file is the square itself and the Maps pin on Varnava 8. The bar had been “very soon” on 4 August; the door is now the card. Pangrati already drinks on this square — the 13 m² room is a pause in that traffic, not a destination strip flown in from Colmar.

The glass is why you go; Varnava is why it feels like Athens.
